It’s A Wunderbar Life

If you would have told me when I was sixteen that in ten years I’d still be living in my hometown, be a stay at home mom to a little boy, and be married to a sexy Army man…I would have giggled. I would have kindly responded that after college I’d be leaving for New York to work as a interior designer, have no kids, and be married to a sexy architect.
Oh to be 16 and think you have life all figured out.
I had no idea. In my future I didn’t want kids. I had a nephew and that was good enough. Then I met Patrick when I was 19. The guy was sweet, had ambitions, and drove me crazy. Good and bad kinda crazy. We had our fights, break ups, and make ups. I mean they were all his fault, obviously. After two years I knew I wanted to marry him and have his babies.
Thankfully! From the faithfulness in our marriage, the incredible bond he has with Colton, the loyalty to his country. He still amazes me!
Life is pretty swell. Skype calls with the husband, arts and crafts with the toddler, shopping with my Momma, and dinner nights at my sister’s house. We’ll see what the Army throws at us so we can finally be getting a house in the summer.
Yes, I am living MY American Dream.
The simple things…

Bubble wrap!
A VERY Southern Wedding

That would be Colton in his tux. & I agree, he does look very dapper.
We had my Momma’s wedding the other day which consisted of remarkable mountain views, a darling barn, and fun times.
I’ve realized how much help Patrick is during our family get togethers. Don’t get me wrong, I knew he was a huge help before but it just hit me harder as I’m trying to chase a 2 year old (while in my dress and heels) who is hopped up on wedding cake, friends, and ping pong paddles. Punishment was no fun for either of us. He wanted nothing more but to play flashlight tag with the 6 year olds and when I said “no” he goes for my new strand of pearls. Oh no, sweetheart.
Then the dance music started. I melted watching that boy dance his little heart out in the middle of the barn.
Let the love affair begin…

I’m talking about a 9 month love affair with real estate. Don’t get your ACUs in a wad, Patrick.
We had originally planned on moving into a place by this month but decided it’d be best to wait out the deployment so when Patrick comes home we can buy our dream house.
With patience comes a bigger payment for the house so I’m waiting it out. However, that doesn’t stop me from drooling all over Trulia daily.
I know, I know why bother looking when there’s still 9 months. Depending on Patrick’s job with the Army is another factor in the move. Will he be staying with his Company? If so, we’ll be checking in Dandridge and closer to Johnson City. There’s also the possibility that he’ll go to Battalion. & that means we’ll be staying around here. No biggie either way.
My demands for a house seem to be a lot to ask for. I don’t think my parents realize how much they lucked out with our family home.
The kind of home for my family of three has:
-a nice fenced in FLAT backyard. Unlike the high school girl in me, I want flatness!! Fenced in is a must as well. Colton and Belle need their own area outside. A few trees would be perfect.
-4 bedrooms. I’m looking for us to grow into the house. & if I see another chem light laying around I’m going to stab Patrick with it. So for the sake of his life he needs his own office/man room.
-lovely neighborhood. Preferably with younger families so Colton could pass ball with friends. Of course cul-de-sac would be great as well.
Right now here’s what I’m loving:

Beautiful on the inside and out. In the cul-de-sac, on our budget, and perfect back yard. (wish there were more trees though)
As you know mo’ money, mo’ problems so I’m starting a new savings account. We bought a timeshare and with a house purchase next year, trip to Disney World during the summer, and trip to NYC in December. I thought it’d be best to go through the house and go on a selling spree. More money in the bank and less stuff to have to deal with moving.
Just the two of us.

Good grief! A year has flown by. It doesn’t seem it’s been THAT long since I’ve updated. Starting now I have free time…for a year. I kissed my husband goodbye as he left for one more month of training and soon he will be on his way to Afghanistan. I’ve started potty training Colton. He loves sitting on the potty but really nothing. We are buying a new house that has been put off for moving in till August. Busy Summer for the little dude and I.
We really need to stop taking long breaks like this…

Big news! We may or may not be moving in March. Three long years in an apartment is not good for our family. Especially when we want to add another. It’s a long, stressful process and we’ll know for sure in a week.
Patrick will probably be taking command of his Unit in a couple months and in the Summer he’ll be leaving for a project in Hawaii.
Colton has been rocking out these days. He’s a crazy kid. He loves to hook Belle’s leash on her and drag her around the house. He’s still a super huge Curious George and Toy Story fan!
Basically I miss blogging. My outlet. ME time while Patrick plays video games. Being able to recap Colton’s early years.
Needless to say, I’m baaaack. I’ll be doing a giveaway real soon. Don’t worry I’ll tweet the crap out of it.
Big boy.

I forgot to mention in the last post that Colton got his first big boy haircut earlier this summer.
Colton loves:
-Spaghetti/any pasta
-Chicken tenders
-Playing in shaving cream
-Curious George and Buzz Lightyear
-His blue car that we got from CSNstores (a post to come later)
-Brushing his teeth
Colton doesn’t like:
-Large animals. At Colonial Williamsburg he cried when we walked him to the oxen and horses.
-Being told no.
-When we leave or when Daddy has to go to work.
-He’s not really a fan of the ocean unless we are holding his hand.
Colton stills has a very small vocabulary. We just think he’ll be stubborn with talking as he was with walking. When he’s ready it will happen. So far he says:
-Momma
-Dadda
-Pappaw
-Nana
-Belle (he says it so country)
-Buzz (Uzz no “b” sound)
-Bye
-Please (ease)
-Shoes (but with a “ch” like chose)
Oh hi! Remember me?

I’ve not blogged since April. Lame! But seriously y’all believe me when I say LIFE got in the way. I single parented my way through the first half of this year. & then my husband came home. We took a vacation mid June and off he went in July. He’s home now for good. Well until next deployment. Which is something we may be looking at in Jan 2012.
BUT for now we are enjoying being a wee family of three again and doing some house shopping. We want another baby. Something that I prefer not to deal with in a small 2 bedroom apartment. After searching for two long months we found our dream house. It’s right down the road from our neighborhood now. Which is great because:
A.) I love this part of town and
B.) We’re still close to my Momma…which makes for fast and convenient babysitter trips.
The house has two 2 car garages plus a shed. The back yard is AHmazing! It’s huge and mostly shaded by trees which makes for cool summer days and beautiful leaves in the fall.
Sadly, the house has a contract on it. You can imagine my heart breaking into a billion pieces when the real estate lady told me this. She didn’t even let me down softly. She just stabbed my heart with the knife and twisted.
However, I will not give up. I’m bugging the shit out of her until the house is for sure off the market. Until it’s MINE.
Snap back to reality. I’m upset I had taken such on long break with blogging. So much has happened with Colton. His daily vocabulary is:
-Momma
-Daddy
-Belle
-Shoes
-Cheese
-Please
-Thank you
-Baby
-Papaw
-Ewwww (when he’s getting his diaper changed and we take out the trash)
He’s a tall drink of water. 10% weight and 90% for height. The doctor isn’t worried about his weight though. The dude eats almost every second of the day.
He’s a happy and active little boy who loves his dog and playing rough. I love this kid.
Ana Apple Designs Giveaway

My love for all things handmade is getting pretty intense. I would like to introduce y’all to Ana Apple Designs. She has the most adorable onesies/tees for little ones. Anything from Business Time tee’s to multiples sets. & while I do love everything she has to offer in her shop I also have my favorites.
The Deep Purple Misha Pantie Sachets ($10).
“Give your finest underthings a playful hint of hibiscus, grapefruit and mango with these feisty little sachets.
Each Misha sachet set is 4 inches by 4 inches square, and filled with hibiscus, grapefruit peel and flax seed for a bit of soothing scent. Your Misha sachets will come in a little box, ready for gift giving. Tuck them away among your unmentionables and let them do all the work!”
I would get this for myself because I love the smell of all things tropical. However, they would make marvelous presents.
The Burgers and Fries Little Foodies onesie/tee ($25).

“Just because baby’s eating food from a jar doesn’t mean he can’t look forward to the good stuff!
Little Foodies, the latest unisex addition to the Tricked-Out Tots line, celebrates a variety of palates. This onesie’s serving up a cheeseburger and fries!”
Business Time toddler tee ($20).

“Get your toddler dressed for success with a daddy-inspired tee! Perfect for family portraits, Sunday school, visiting Grandma or getting down to business at the playground.”
I’m the biggest fan of little boys tie tee’s. Also the pocket on the side? Squee! SO cute!
Hometown Glory onesie/tee ($19).

“Let baby show love for your home state with this latest unisex addition to the Tricked-Out Tots line!
Choose a pre-shrunk American Apparel 100% cotton bodysuit or 100% cotton youth t-shirt, which will be embellished with Eco-Fi polyester felt made from recycled plastic bottles. Please refer to the felt swatches to pick two colors (one for the state, one for the heart or star).”
We have a Hometown Glory toddler tee that is great! The shirt is soft and fits Colton perfectly. I was a little nervous about the felt in the wash but it’s held up fine. He’s worn this many times and it’s still yet to show any imperfections. What I love most is that this would be perfect for game days. Just pick out your team colors for the state and star/heart.

Zooper Giveaway

Zooper could not have came into my life at a better time. Colton had a high chair that was terrible. It was laid back and could not be adjusted. He had the hardest time sitting up straight and well….it wasn’t that pretty.

The Zooper To Go chair arrived. It was the easiest thing ever to set up! EVAR! All I had to do was lift it up. It slowly collapses in this super sweet compact fold complete with a carrying handle. It can also stand on its own while being folded down. One of my favorite things that the TO GO has is removable seat covers. Easy to change and easy to clean. It comes in two different designs: Blue Checkers or Red Checkers. The extra seat cover is black. A five point harness keeps the kid safely in the “space rocket” (as my mom calls it). There is also a little net that hooks on the tray sides. The net catches all the stray puffies and cookies that miss Colton’s mouth. Speaking of the tray I’m not that fond of it. A bit on the tiny side and really only fits his cup, small bowls, and snacks. Okay for now but will become a small problem when he gets older. However, he’ll be sitting at the table at that point.
Buy It: You can check at the Zooper website for stores in your area. There are also many online retailers.
Win It: TWO readers will each win a Hook On chair ($49)!
